April showers bring May flowers … and June babies!
Hosting a baby shower in the month of April? This baby shower theme is perfect!. However, it would be just as cute in any other month as long as you change the rhyme to fit your needs!
My lovely mother, sisters, and dear friends helped throw an adorable shower for my this past April. My baby is due in June, so it worked out perfectly. They used umbrellas and yellow rain boots as the inspiration for this gender neutral “shower” theme.
Baby Shower Entrance
A darling display of umbrellas hanging from the porch ceiling greeted guests as they arrived to the baby shower. What an entrance! The porch features tables decorated with white table cloths and mini watering pails filled with flowers.
- Try these umbrellas from Amazon or check out party supply sites such as Oriental Trading for similar umbrellas!
Baby Shower Decorations
This area in the entrance area displayed a cute “Oh Baby” banner, tassel garland, confetti, and floral arrangements. One of my favorite DIY decorations was the floral arrangements in yellow rain boots! To make these arrangements, use assorted flowers in a slender vase, then place the vase inside the boots. How adorable!
You can easily DIY these decorations with a cutting machine and some paper, but here are some similar finds on Amazon to create your display:
Guests were served champagne from the bar cart as they walked in. Decorations included a lightbox sign and confetti. The backdrop included cloud and raindrop garland that my lovely friend made with her cutting machine. White balloons added the perfect “shower” of fun and looked like clouds, tying in the theme!
- Lightbox sign
- Cloud confetti / Raindrop confetti
- Raindrop garland
- White balloons
- Helium kit (Sometimes these are the best option, depending on worldwide helium supply!)
It wouldn’t be a baby shower without a diaper cake! My sister made the cutest diaper cake decoration. This tutorial is really helpful, and all it takes are diapers, some ribbon, and household items to put together this cute centerpiece. Fake flowers on top and clouds on popsicle sticks made for cute add-ons.
Baby Shower Food
For a light lunch, the menu included easy DIY dishes such as shrimp pasta, pimento cheese roll-ups, spanakopita, Watergate salad, meatballs, and strawberry spinach salad.
A local baker made the cake, modeled after the invitation. It tasted amazing!
Favors were little bags of assorted flavor popcorn, with tags that read “She’s about to pop!” My sister also made cute name tags for the family members to wear.
Baby Shower Experience
Overall, it was a lovely baby shower! From the decorations to the food, my hostesses did a fantastic job.
Feel free to use these ideas if you are hosting a baby shower. It’s a classic gender-neutral theme to honor the mama-to-be, and you can create a lot of these decorations using simple and easy to find materials!
